Gather your girlfriends and work on a craft you love or have wanted to try. Even if everyone is working on their own project, you can still gather together in a home or coffee shop to be creative together! Keeping it simple and doing activities you enjoy is most important as you make Creative Cottage your own. Coloring books for adults are a simple option enjoyed by many, for instance! But we know from experience that Pinterest, YouTube, Facebook and other social media sites provide hours of inspiration for creative activities. Often we "save" these projects hoping we will make them one day, but we rarely find the time. Creative Cottage gatherings can be your opportunity to bring these good intentions to life!
"But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared." Luke 24:1
Luke 23:55 - 24:10 This passage reminds us of so many things Creative Cottage gatherings can be...women gathering, creating, resting, remembering, bringing our creativity to Jesus together, experiencing joy, and finding new life in Him! Women encouraged, changed and sharing their story!
"Now when Jesus was in Bethany, at the home of Simon the leper, a woman came to Him with an alabaster vial of very costly perfume, and she poured it on His head as He reclined at the table." Matthew 26:6-7
Simon the Leper's willingness to host a gathering (A leper...hosting? Surely an act of worship!) made space for a woman's extravagant worship!
"O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together!" Psalm 34:3
Psalm 34 invites testimony after testimony of reasons we can and should exalt His name together!
"In the beginning was the Word, and Word was with God and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." John 1:1-3
"Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, brother of James, and Joses, and Judas, and Simon?" Mark 6:3
Jesus, the Son of God and creator of the universe could have been born into any family, but He was divinely placed in the home of a carpenter (Matt. 13:55) to become a carpenter himself. Even though growing up in a priestly family might have made more sense, Jesus continued in His creativity for 30 years on earth before entering into ministry. Think about it. He told several parables about building and is now building His Church and has gone to prepare a place for us so that where He is we can be also! (John 14) When we are creative, we are being like Jesus!
